森 和真 先生、田中 希尚 先生、佐藤 達也 先生、古橋 眞人 教授らの研究グループは血清γ-グルタミルトランスフェラーゼ(GGT)レベルと高血圧発症の関係を10年間の追跡調査から研究し、GGTの高値は飲酒頻度が少ない集団(週5日以下)では高血圧発症の独立した予測因子であるが、頻繁な飲酒者(週6日以上)では関連がないことを示しました。この研究成果は飲酒習慣に応じた高血圧リスク評価において重要と考えられます。
